Weizmann Day School middle school students were excited to receive a visit from two teenage athletes from the Israel Sport Center for the Disabled in Ramat Gan recently (Joining the athletes was their counselor, the national executive director, Jennifer Fink, of the American Friends of the ISCD, and Lindy Berman, a local volunteer and dear friend of one of our board members.)

More on the Israel Sport Center for the Disabled: The ISCD is a really special place for kids and adults who are either victims of terror attacks or have been born with a physical disability. The ISCD uses sports activities to turn more than 3,000 disabled kids from a state of helplessness toward integration into day-to-day life. The center offers wheelchair basketball, tennis, table-tennis, rugby, swimming and the list goes on….

The center is open to everyone so it is a wonderful place of co-existence in Israel. Today, more than 3,000 kids and adults participate in 20 different sports activities without discrimination of religion, race, or ethnicity. There is a daily Kindergarten program for 20 children in wheelchairs which provides a wonderful safe-haven for these kids.

Here is a short video highlighting the center, its activities and most importantly the adults and children it serves:
