Young & Healthy, a community-based nonprofit that provides access to medical, dental, mental health and other health services free-of-charge to uninsured and underinsured low-income children, held its 2017 benefit Gala on the evening of January 28, 2017. With a tropical theme, guests dressed in their best Hawaiian togs, sporting straw hats, Bermuda shorts and leis. Guests also enjoyed tropical-themed drinks and appetizers prior to the sit down dinner.

The Gala, “Making Waves with Young & Healthy”, was  held at H Studio in Sun Valley and honored Dr. Charles and Rene Korth with the J. Donald Thomas Award and Sonia Singla with the Alliance Award. These awards are given to those whose dedication, perseverance, and selfless devotion to the wellbeing of children exemplifies the spirit that led to the founding of Young & Healthy over 27 years ago.

Founded in 1990, Young & Healthy was born from a community need to improve quality of life for children in the Pasadena area. The result is a human-scale solution to a large-scale problem: people helping people; and health professionals sharing their time, skills and resources with children whose families would otherwise be unable to access that care.

The 2017 Gala helps to raise funds to continue Young & Healthy’s mission and ensure that all children have equitable access to quality medical care. All proceeds will benefit Young & Healthy, a 501(c)(3) organization.
