One of Sierra Madre Playhouse’s major productions this Spring is the adventure fantasy A Wrinkle in Time, running March 10 through April 22, 2017. In it, three young people travel through time and space to rescue a missing scientist from an evil entity. In celebration of its production of this beloved story, based on a Newberry Award winning novel, Sierra Madre Playhouse is presenting several public events, some of which are free.

As guests of the Teen Book Club of the Sierra Madre Public Library, cast members form the Sierra Madre Playhouse’s A Wrinkle in Time will perform a short scene from the current production of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic children’s book as adapted for the stage by John Glore. Following the scene actors will answer questions about their roles.

A Wrinkle in “Tea Time”

A sci-fi / fantasy themed tea celebrates the characters and themes from Madeline L’Engle’s classic children’s book A Wrinkle in Time. If you like time travel with your tea – you will love this special event. The Sierra Madre Playhouse is decorating T-Neer to make us think of tesseracts and strange planets, fantastical flying beasts and giant brains. Each table will have a draw-it-yourself character placemat that can be taken home as a memento. Attendees will dine on some favorites from the Murry family from the book and taste some “out of this world” treats with our tea. Each guest will receive a souvenir “brain“ eraser. After tea – go see the 2:30 matinee of the play.

Dress as your favorite character from A Wrinkle in Time for a fun pre Friday night performance of A Wrinkle in Time activity at the Sierra Madre Playhouse. Everyone wearing a costume to the performance will receive a special A Wrinkle in Time certificate and small souvenir. Best costumes will receive special prizes. Your photo will be featured in a lobby display for the rest of the run of the show and on our Facebook feed. Participants need not attend the performance to join in.
