No matter whether you’re makeup trend artist of prefer to stick to the classics, Olga at Merle Norman will help you leave feeling like the belle of the ball. Olga has owned a Merle Norman franchise for over 20 years and her South Lake Avenue location has been open since 2009. She chose a career in beauty after looking for a change from her work as a paralegal supervisor.

“I’ve always like [Merle Norman] products and really enjoy the customers…they’re really happy and it’s always a good experience,” she said.

Over the last 20 years, she has seen Merle Norman’s line of colors expand and a renewed interest in skin care. She encourages customers to try new colors and helps them achieve the look of their dreams.

“[Makeup] is a very individual experience,” she said. Not everything looks good on everyone so sometimes the best way to find your look is to experiment.

This fall, natural lips and soft cheeks are popular. She adds that the liquid blush provides a subtle color and should coordinate with your outfit. Picking lipsticks and blush with the same warm or cool undertones helps you look put together. Olga recommends starting with primer so that makeup goes on smoothly.

Olgs also suggests adding a coppery or burgundy eyeshadow and black liner – in a cateye if that’s something you can pull off. Try blending matte and shimmery cream eyeshadow sticks for a subtly sparkly look. Make your eyes pop by lining the inner corners with light liner or shadow and adding a hint of shine.

“I always tell them to wear it for a little bit, you have to get used to seeing yourself in something different,” she added.

If you want a second opinion, book a free full-face makeover where you can get customized advice. Unlike at other beauty stores, Merle Norman uses sanitary single-use packets of color to keep everything clean. Stop by for a mini-consultation or plan for a complete makeover.

“For skin, the most important thing to remember is to cleanse, tone and moisturize,” she said.
