The Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA has launched #GivingPawsday, an online and in-person campaign to provide food, shelter and medical care to the nearly 12,000 animals taken into the shelter each year.

This year’s day of giving will be held on November 29.

#GivingPawsday is part of the #GivingTuesday movement, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity worldwide. Now in its fifth year, #GivingTuesday has brought together over 45,000 partners in 71 countries and helped raised nearly $117 million in the US alone.

“Help PHS kick off the charitable season with your monetary or in-kind donation on #GivingPawsday,” says Julie Bank, President/CEO of the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA. “Join the movement and help thousands of homeless, ill and injured animals in our community.”

Donations can be made online at pasadenahumane.org/givingpawsday or by texting PAWS to 27722. In-kind donations will also be accepted at the shelter. Items in high demand are fleece bedding, pet beds, canned cat food, towels and dog food. The full wish list can be found at pasadenahumane.org/wishlist. Supporters are encouraged to spread the word about the movement on social media using the hashtag #GivingPawsday.
