The Pasadena Cancer Support Community hosted its second annual Holiday Boutique and Luncheon Friday at the Valley Hunt Club to kick off the holiday shopping spirit with local vendors and to raise money for the San Gabriel Valley’s only organization of its kind to offer free support for cancer patients and families for the past 26 years.

“Today is special because we are kicking off the holidays and we’re raising money for an amazing organization,” said Pasadena Cancer Support Center Executive Director Meg Symes.

The shop-worthy morning featured over 20 unique vendors with plenty of quality goods that included DesignsByGeorgina, Tuck by Mary Hodgen, DenCats, Pearls, It’s A Wrap, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Hostess Gifts to Go, Anthony Guthmiller Accessories, Nicole Beadles, India Hicks by Mary McCracken, Susie O Purses, Herban, Veronica’s Garden and others.

The luncheon portion featured Author Annabelle Gurwitch as the Special Guest Speaker.

“It’s a great shopping experience,” said Symes.

CSCP is an organization that helps people affected by cancer enhance their health and well-being through participation in a professional program of emotional support, education and hope, according to its website. It is often referred to as a sanctuary that facilitates healing and positivity for people going through extremely difficult circumstances that cancer presents.

“It’s a wonderful community here in Pasadena and its completely free to anybody who has cancer,” said Symes. “We are the only organization in the Pasadena area that offers these programs free of charge.”

Individuals and their families who are going through cancer can participate in weekly support groups, exercise classes, nutrition classes, medical workshops and more.

“We’re always looking for anyone to get involved in this incredible cause because, unfortunately, cancer touches all of us one way or another,” said Symes.

The CSCP is a part of a network of over 100 locations worldwide including 24 U.S. based and 2 international centers with 73 satellite and off-site programs and online.
