It’s been shown to improve anxiety, acne, migraines, fatigue, allergies and diabetes. It can help stop hair loss, weight gain, depression, heart disease and many other conditions. What’s this magical cure-all? Acupuncture, of course.

The growing evidence and support for the effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine seems unstoppable, especially in regards to acupuncture, a therapy in which hair-pin needles are inserted into the shallow surface of the skin said to stimulate the flow of our body’s natural energy, chi, which travels along meridians, or energy paths through major organs.

By correcting the flow of our natural energy, we kick-start our body’s intrinsic healing process, says Roxy Han, LAc, founder of the Blue Jean Acupuncture clinic opening its doors in Pasadena on January 13th.

blue-jean-acupuncture-2ndHan, who says she has 12 years of acupuncture experience, including more than eight years at Elements Total Health, an integrative health clinic that recently closed in South Pasadena, explains that if you’re an existing client, you get first dibs on appointments, starting this Friday, January 6th, at her pre-opening Grand Opening where tea and snacks will also be served.

Single acupuncture treatments cost $69 (with more than half of PPOs covering at least part of the expense) but you can also save $10 a visit if you buy bundles of four treatments.

For first time clients, Blue Jean Acupuncture offers free consultations and first-time treatments for only $19. Han, who specializes in fertility issues and pain management, prefers the Dr. Tan and Dr. Tongue approaches, which she says produce results four times faster than classical acupuncture.

While long-standing injuries may take longer to remedy with weekly sessions for months, she says acute pain and recent problems typically begin to resolve within minutes of the first session and most people feel significantly better after eight to 10 sessions.

Located at on South El Molino Avenue below Green Street, Blue Jean Acupuncture is just far enough from the beaten path to make parking a breeze.
