The Los Altos Auxiliary of Hathaway-Sycamores will be hosting its annual wine tasting fundraiser on Sunday, April 9th from 4:00 to 7:00pm at The Thursday Club in La Canada. The theme of this year’s event is “Celebrate Spain, A Tasting Experience.”

“We are so grateful to our event sponsors whose generosity will make this event a record breaking success. Our thanks to Sandi Saeger of Dilbeck Estates together with the Chase Foundation, Fish King, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Herzer, the Campbell Family Foundation, Gelsons Markets, Mr. Richard Stumbaugh, J. D. Gilmour, Inc, Mayesh Wholesale Florist, Osher Van de Voorde Investment Management and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Brown,” according to Laurie Rodli, Celebrate Spain Co-chair.

At this California casual, yet festive evening, guests will enjoy sipping the wines from the Spanish region, savoring bites from ETC Gourmet, while supporting Los Altos via a silent auction, giving tree, wine pull, and sales of beautiful floral arrangements. The silent auction will be held online.

This event is a delicious and fun way to raise funds for Hathaway-Sycamores’ El Nido residential therapy program. (Hathaway-Sycamores is one of Los Angeles County’s largest, private providers of children’s mental-health services, delivering a comprehensive continuum of services to nearly 7,000 children, young adults and families annually.)

With funds from this event, and generous supporters in the community, Los Altos has been able to enrich the lives of the boys at El Nido in meaningful ways by providing: their first on-campus library, computer stations, new playground equipment, a silk screening business, an art center, and the remodeling of two safe bathrooms. In 2016 Los Altos funded cottage curtains, a trampoline for the older boys and a trip to Disneyland for the Holiday Break. Additionally, Los Altos also provides “hands-on” activities for members; like giving birthday gift cards and cupcakes, homemade blankets and Easter bags. Other activities include a Halloween Carnival, an ice cream social, providing summer and winter activities for the boys, and more. These improvements and special event gifts may seem “routine” to many, but to these boys it is an amazing outpouring of care and concern for them—which most are not used to—and can be remarkably powerful in their healing and recovery.

Event tickets are $100 per person for pre-purchased tickets. Sadly, we cannot accept walk-ins. To receive an invitation, purchase tickets, make a donation, or get more information about the online silent auction, please visit the Los Altos Auxiliary website at www.losaltosauxiliary.org/wine-tasting or call (818) 790-0575.
