Hathaway-Sycamores will hold its 1st Annual BBQ, Blues & Bocce event at their El Nido residential campus (2933 N. El Nido Drive, Altadena) on Friday, June 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Learn more about its residential program and Transitional and Emergency Shelter programs. The Transitional Shelter Care (72 hour care) and Emergency Shelter Care (30 day) programs are innovative, new programs attempting to be a first step intervention in keeping children off the streets when faced with few alternatives. 100% of the proceeds will be allocated to purchasing beds for foster youth ages 6-18 living at Hathaway-Sycamores’ residential treatment facility in Altadena.

Few people realize that while chronic diseases affecting the heart, lungs, and other organs are often diseases of aging, half of all mental illnesses begin by the age of 14, three-quarters by the age of 25. This has tremendous implications on the economics of healthcare, but more importantly the lives of many families and children. This can be seen in the rising homelessness in LA County where estimates are around 8,000 homeless 15-24 year olds. El Nido is one of the last stops for many of these children.

This fun summer evening will feature incredible BBQ and craft beer from local breweries. Bocce and a variety of fun outdoor games will be set up around the campus – as will craft stations for children in attendance. There will be live music from local bands, a silent auction, a raffle and much more.
